Marvin I. Schotland, Chair
President and CEO
Jewish
Community Foundation
Mr. Schotland has been with the Jewish Community Foundation for 12
years. Prior to joining the foundation, Mr. Schotland served as the
executive director of the Jewish Community Foundation in New Jersey and
also in Southern Arizona. He currently serves on the board of directors
of more than 25 family foundations.

Angel Zapata, Vice Chair
Vice President, Community Investments and Marketing
Northern Trust
Bank
As Vice President at Northern Trust Bank, Mr. Zapata manages the
statewide community reinvestment program. Previously, he was the
principal of an organizational management and media strategy consulting
group in Santa Monica, where his marketing, business and fund
development skills were tapped by various Latino organizations and KCET.
Mr. Zapata also served as a program officer for the Joyce Foundation in
Chicago.

Carl Ballton, Treasurer

Union Bank of California Foundation
Prior to joining Union Bank in 1979, Mr. Ballton worked at the
Continental Illinois National Bank of Chicago. He serves on the Board of
Los Angeles Urban League, Goodwill Industries of Southern California,
and the Los Angeles Community Design Center. He also serves on a number
of Corporate Advisory Boards.

Fred Ali, Secretary
President and Chief Executive Officer
Weingart
Foundation
Mr. Ali is President and Chief Executive Officer of the Weingart
Foundation, a position he has held since 1999. He previously served as
the Executive Director of Covenant House in Los Angeles, where he
developed a large multi-service program for homeless youth. Mr. Ali
began his career as a volunteer teacher and counselor in a small Alaskan
Eskimo village, served as Vice Chancellor of the University of Alaska,
Anchorage and was the founding Executive Director of Covenant House in
Alaska.

Ahmanson Foundation
Mr. Ahmanson oversees the Foundation’s grantmaking, which
serves Los
Angeles County by funding cultural
projects in the arts and humanities, education at all levels, health
care, programs related to homelessness and underserved populations as
well as a wide range of human services. Prior to joining the
Foundation, Mr. Ahmanson was in the banking industry. He also
serves on the boards of several major cultural and charitable
institutions.

Judy Belk

Philanthropy Advisors
As Vice President, Ms. Belk heads Rockefeller Philanthropy
Advisors’ West Coast offices in San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Previously, Ms. Belk spent 10 years as Vice President of Global Public
Affairs for Levi Strauss & Co., where she led the $120 million Levi
Strauss Foundation. Under her leadership, the foundation and company
developed a global reputation for its work in the fight against AIDS and
several nationally recognized anti-racism initiatives.

Elise Buik

Greater Los Angeles
Ms. Buik has served the United Way of Greater Los Angeles since 1994.
Under her leadership, the organization implemented a new community
investment plan focused on measurable impact and also developed key
social reports. Ms. Buik is the first woman to serve as the
organization's president.

Dannielle Campos

Philanthropy
Bank of America Corporate Philanthropy
Having previously served as the Vice President and California Manager
for Bank of America Foundation, Ms. Campos has shepherded charitable
programs for the company for more than a decade. She has also been an
active participant in SCG, as well as Hispanics in Philanthropy and Los
Angeles Urban Funders.

James Lewis Kyle II, M.D.
Board Member
The California
Endowment
Mr. Kyle is the Senior Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs in the
College of Medicine at Charles Drew University and the former Dean of the
School of Public Health at Loma Linda University. In addition, he helped
create a multicultural independent practice association comprised
primarily of African American, Hispanic and Filipino physicians serving
minority communities.

Rachel Levin

Persons Foundation
Ms. Levin helped establish Steven Spielberg's Righteous Persons
Foundation, which has made grants totaling almost $75 million to
strengthen and revitalize Jewish life in the United
States as well as the
Foundation’s recent Fund for Co-Existence. Previously, Ms. Levin
worked in the California political scene. Levin is a
co-founder of Reboot and Joshua Venture: A fellowship
for Jewish Social Entrepreneurs.

Alicia N. Procello Maddox
Corporate Responsibility Manager
Nike’s Western Geographic Business Unit
Mrs. Maddox oversees grantmaking that increases physical activity in
youth ages 8-15. Previously, Maddox was a Program Director for The
California Wellness Foundation. She has also served with Planned
Parenthood of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles County Health Facilities
Authority Commission, the Institute for Diversity in Health Management,
and the American Public Health Association’s Black Caucus of
Health Workers.

Janis Minton

Ms. Minton is Executive Director of The Atlas Family Foundation which
concentrates its charitable resources to advance high-impact early
childhood intervention and education programs for children
prenatal-to-three and their families in Los Angeles County.

Alvertha Bratton Penny
Vice President for Programs
The California
Community Foundation
Ms. Penny develops plans, strategies and guidelines in support of the
foundation’s 10-year strategic plan and manages a $20 million
annual discretionary grants budget, as well as the grantmaking
activities of other funds totaling more than $3 million. Previously,
Penny served with the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.

Janice Pober

Entertainment
Ms. Pober is Senior Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility
for Sony Pictures Entertainment, where she administers the
studio’s strategic philanthropic efforts and community outreach
activities. She also serves as trustee of the California State Summer
School for the Arts, Vice Chair of Workplace Hollywood, and is on the
boards of Camino Nuevo Charter School, Los Angeles County Public Library
Foundation and serves on the Executive Committee for the Los Angeles
County Blueprint for Arts Education.

Hugh J. Ralston

Ventura County Community
Foundation
Mr. Ralston brings wide nonprofit and private sector experience as a
banker for 16 years to his leadership of VCCF. Mr. Ralston serves on the
board for the Planned Giving Council of Ventura County and is a member
of the steering committee of the League of California Community
Foundations, as well as Scripps College in Claremont, the Community Arts Music Association in
Santa Barbara and the Community
Commission for Ventura County.

Marcos V. Ramirez
Program Officer

Mr. Ramirez has oversight of grantmaking, leadership development
programs, and philanthropic initiatives in Southern California and has
been active in philanthropic networks in Orange County, having served as President
of the Orange County Community Relations Council, and being a member of
Orange County Funders and the OC Council on Philanthropy. Mr. Ramirez
has also been a professor on leadership development, an organizational
development and management consultant and community organizer.

Cristina Regalado

Ms. Regalado was Vice President for Administration and Programs at
the Los Angeles Women's Foundation prior to joining The California
Wellness Foundation. She serves on the board of Asian American Pacific
Islanders in Philanthropy and was formerly on the board of the Women's
Funding Network. Ms. Regalado also previously served as Vice-Chair for
the SCG Board.

Ray F. Reisler, Ed.D.

Foundation
Dr. Reisler has held his position at the S. Mark Taper Foundation
since its founding in 1989. He is the founder and co-leader of the
Education Funders Group, which is comprised of LA-based foundations
interested in public education, and serves as a member of the Los
Angeles County Arts Education Advisory Group. Dr. Reisler has also
participated on a number of SCG program committees including chair for
the 1999 Annual Conference Committee.

Latonya Slack, J.D.
Senior Program Officer
The James Irvine
Foundation
Ms. Slack previously served as the Executive Director of California
Black Women's Health Project, Inc., where she established a mental
health initiative and a health policy advocate training program for lay
community members. She also worked for the Service Employees
International Union, Local 399, and has served on a number of boards and
committees committed to issues of equity and access. Ms. Slack is a 2006
American Marshall Memorial Fellow of the German Marshall Fund, a
transatlantic program promoting international relations between Europe
and the United States.
