2019 Fundamentals of Effective Grantmaking | About

This program is sold out, for any questions or concerns please contact Monica Banks at [email protected].

Grantmakers must continually sharpen their skills and knowledge to keep pace with changes in the sector and the growing need for increased foundation resources. SCG is pleased to offer our signature Fundamentals of Effective Grantmaking program, providing unparalleled service for nearly two decades. This content-rich training is an opportunity for foundation staff — both new to the field and seasoned professionals — to learn and revisit core grantmaking competencies.

SCG’s signature Fundamentals of Effective Grantmaking program is a comprehensive and engaging, three-day series that introduces core grantmaking skills and procedures to both new and seasoned philanthropic professionals. Individuals who attend the full program and site visit session will explore topics such as assessing proposals and site visits, building respectful relationships with grantees, evaluation, ethics, managing the challenges of grantmaking, adopting the networking and mentoring lifestyle and advocacy. This experience also provides a unique opportunity for participants to interact with colleagues in our grantmaking community.

This program is sure to sell out, so you are encouraged to save-the-dates!

Participants are required to attend all modules in addition to the “Visit with a Grantmaker” site visit.
