3 Insights for Evaluation

Many evaluations are guided a by time-tested set of questions: what happened? how efficiently and effectively were the results achieved? What are the next steps? Speakers at GEO's 2014 Conference in Los Angeles are asking some additional questions. In doing so, they add important layers of nuance to the foundational practices of evaluation in philanthropy.

My first GEO conference was in 2010 in Pittsburgh. At the time, I working for The Lumpkin Family Foundation based in Illinois. While I had been a fan of the GEO publications and resources for quite a while, I wasn't sure what to expect of the conference and its attendees. As a way to meet new people and become oriented to the conference, I signed up for the Ambassador program for first time attendees.

Unleashing the Potential of Los Angeles: Submissions, Trends, and Impact from the My LA2050 Grants Challenge

As part of the LA2050 initiative, the Goldhirsh Foundation launched the My LA2050 Grants Challenge for organizations to apply for $1,000,000 total in ten $100,000 awards.

During the My LA2050 Grants Challenge, 279 organizations submitted proposals that demonstrated passion and imagination to build a future where all Angelenos flourish.
