2019 National Day of Racial Healing

Los Angeles is often perceived as a culturally and racially progressive metropolis; A famously mythic city where many escape to for promises of diversity, free-thinking ideals, and a new way of living.  However, just beyond the mirage, our communities bustle, moving within and through the city’s history of and present-day struggles with systemic racism.  Landmarks, oral narratives, and collective actions shed light on decades of state violence, forced displacement, and segregation.

Truth, Racial Healing & Trantsformation - Los Angeles's (TRHT-LA’s) 2019 National Day of Racial Healing faces our unresolved histories, acknowledges our predecessors, and centers creative tools that have endured across generations and continue to sustain our communities. This year’s theme, Hand in Hand, is an invitation to strengthen these ties that connect us.  From January 22 to January 26, 2019, we will provide a free series of programs grounded in truth-telling, movement, dialogues, workshops, and musical performances.

Presented in collaboration with a host of community partners, cultural spaces, artists, and facilitators, we welcome you to participate and amplify the call for racial healing today.
