In collaboration with the Health Funders Partnership of Orange County, SCG invites you to join The Real Orange County bus tour for an unparalleled look into the changing demographics of Orange County and the current state of safety net services in the region.

Orange County is an economically and ethnically diverse community with significant challenges; almost 25% of residents living in poverty, second only to Los Angeles (at 27%)  among surrounding counties.

Together, nonprofit and foundation leaders in Orange County are partnering to focus resources on the needs of their most vulnerable populations.

During the tour, you'll visit some of OC’s most innovative service providers to get an inside look into their work:

  • SOS Wellness Center on the campus El Sol Science & Arts Academy
  • PACE Center, an innovative center that uses a team-based, interdisciplinary approach to help older adults retain their independence in the community
  • The Village at 17th Street, a shared space project for Orange County nonprofits
  • Network Anaheim, a collaborative modeled after Magnolia Children’s Place in LA, which works to improve child outcomes in this high-need community

You’ll also meet and learn from health, housing, and education leaders:
  • Christina Altmayer, Executive Director, Children and Families Commission of Orange County (@cfcoc)
  • Isabel Becerra, Executive Director, The Coalition of Community Health Centers of Orange County
  • Wendy Dallin, Network Anaheim
  • Monique Daviss, Executive Director, El Sol Science & Arts Academy
  • Larry Haynes, Executive Director, Mercy House
  • Michael Ruane, Board Member, Health Care Foundation of Orange County
  • Michael Schrader, CEO, CalOptima
  • Karen Williams, CEO, 211 Orange County

Designed to reveal the multifaceted environment in which Orange County nonprofits operate, this outing is a special opportunity to learn how you can leverage shared data and planning to drive improved access for OC's most vulnerable community members.

Orange County is organized in a very different way than its neighbor to the north. This tour is an essential learning opportunity for grantmakers who currently fund or are interested in funding here! Lunch is included.
