Linked Learning Up Close:  Site Visits
Friday, September 19, 2014
8:00 am to 12:00 pm

This session is a follow-up to our March 2014 session on college and career readiness.  Participants will have the choice of visiting a Linked Learning certified high school:

• STEM Academy of Hollywood, a bio-technology and engineering themed small school located on the campus of Bernstein High School at 1309 N. Wilton Place, Hollywood, CA 90028

• Hollywood High School New Media Academy an arts, entertainment and media themed small learning community at 1521 N Highland Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90028

The purpose of these site visits is to gain a deeper and practical understanding of how Linked Learning enhances instruction and leads to improved student outcomes.  In addition, we will learn what it takes at the school level to make Linked Learning work.

The site visits will include an overview of each pathway provided by the principal and/or leader teacher, classroom observations, and conversation with students and teachers.  The morning will end with the full group coming together to reflect on the experience we had at the Academy visited and discuss specific ideas for how philanthropy can support these efforts.

Details on logistics to follow.  RSVP for the event and your preference for the Academy you would like to visit to Leah C. Ruffin, Program Assistant, Education, California Community Foundation, 213.413.4130 ext. 218.
