On October 24, 1871, seventeen Chinese men including a 15-year-old boy were killed by a mob in Los Angeles. Known as the Chinese Massacre of 1871, it was the culmination of growing anti-Chinese sentiment leading to racially motivated violence. As we come together to commemorate the lives of those lost on that day, we are reminded of how inextricably connected our histories are—that the target for hate crimes can happen to any marginalized communities and that we must remain vigilant and stand in solidarity with one another so that unjust crimes never happen again.

In partnership with The Chinese American Museum, El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historical Monument and Scripps CollegeTRHT-LA is proud to invite you for an encore performance at Scripps College. This multimedia program will feature a musical performance and reading of the names of those who passed on that fateful day.
