SCG members are invited to join a special conversation with City of Los Angeles Chief Administrative Officer Miguel Santana.

This discussion was originally designed as a meeting with SCG’s Public Policy Committee, but we are pleased to be able to offer the remaining seats to the broader SCG membership. CAO Santana will discuss the status of the city budget and other initiatives of interest to the philanthropic community.

We will also have plenty of time for dialogue, so we hope attendees will share some of their funding priorities and initiatives that overlap with the City’s agenda (e.g., veterans and homelessness issues).

Miguel Santana has served as City Administrative Officer for the City of Los Angeles since 2009. He reports directly to the Mayor and the City Council. As the CAO, his office has direct oversight over the City’s $8.1 billion budget, labor negotiations, debt management, and major policy issues as directed by the Mayor and/or City Council, including the proprietary departments of Department of Water and Power, Airport and Harbor.

Santana has more than 25 years of experience managing numerous fiscal, legislative, political, and community issues.

Prior to this position, he served as one of five Deputy Chief Executive Officers for Los Angeles County. As Deputy CEO, Santana provided oversight to all of the County’s social service departments including the Department of Children and Family Services, Public Social Services, Child Support, Military and Veterans Affairs and the Human Relations Commission. Collectively, these departments represented $9 billion of the $22 billion annual County budget.

Santana serves on the Boards of the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF), LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes, United Way of Greater Los Angeles, and Discovery Cube Los Angeles.

We hope you can join us for this lively and intimate discussion.
