California is at a pivotal moment to capture the innovation pioneered by community groups and philanthropy through an overhaul of our healthcare system. In 2019, the California Department of Health Care Services released a comprehensive proposal to reform our state’s Medi-Cal program, one of the largest health programs in the world. Known as the California Advancing and Innovating Medi-Cal (CalAIM), this reinvigorated multi-year initiative will fundamentally alter how crucial health services are provided. Postponed by a year due to the pandemic, a revised proposal was released in January 2021, with the added context of a new federal administration and some significant shifts in healthcare that are likely to remain post-covid, such as telehealth coverage. With the need to center health equity more urgent than ever before, join this session to learn more about the proposal and how it will impact community clinics, low-income Californians, and other safety net service providers.
