Please join us for a funders-only video conference hosted by Smart Growth California on the challenges and opportunities for impact investing in low-income communities. This will include a discussion of current trends in place-based impact investing, as well as opportunities to use such investments to achieve community development and smart growth objectives.

You'll learn about two foundation efforts that are actively investing in low-income communities in California, and the context that brought them to impact investing. These foundations will share lessons learned and the challenges they have overcome, as well as those they continue to face in increasing the impact of their dollars. We'll hear from The Kresge Foundation about their work investing in climate resilience and water, and from The California Endowment about the upcoming launch of the Freshworks 2.0, a program-related investment for healthy food access.

  • Jalonne White-Newsome, The Kresge Foundation
  • Judi Larsen and Amy Chung, The California Endowment
  • Cat Howard, Northern California Community Loan Fund
  • Katherine Pease (Moderator), Director of Impact Investing, Cornerstone Capital Group
