The intersection of criminal justice reform, homelessness, and housing in Los Angeles County has seen great progress and innovation over the last several years.

Please join Funders Together to End Homelessness’ (@funderstogether) Los Angeles Chapter for lunch to hear about just a few of the programs and partners who are bringing about this change.

Attendees will hear from keynote speaker, LA County District Attorney Jackie Lacey, who spearheaded a collaborative effort to divert people with mental illness from the criminal justice system.

Following District Attorney Lacey's update on jail diversion efforts, a panel of experts will share updates on criminal justice reform and homelessness, and will discuss current efforts and opportunities for change:

  • Brian Ford, LA County Probation Department
  • Dr. Mark Ghaly, LA County Department of Health Services, Office of Diversion & Reentry
  • Kimberley Guillemet, LA Mayor’s Office of Reentry
  • Lynne Lyman, State Director, Drug Policy Alliance (@lynnelyman, @DrugPolicyOrg)
  • Tim Silard, President, The Rosenberg Foundation (@TimSilard@RosenbergFound)
  • Yolanda Vera/Dhakshike Wickrema, Office of LA County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas (@yolandaCvera)

Lunch will be provided. This will be an incredible opportunity to connect with funders from other cities also invested in ending homelessness, as the meeting is open to the national Funders Together to End Homelessness group and will precede the 2016 Housing First Partners Conference in LA from March 22-25.

More than 800 professionals, funders, providers, and public servants will gather to explore the expansion of Housing First and how the model is being implemented to end chronic homelessness in the U.S. and around the globe.
