Please join the SCG Veterans Funders Group for a conversation about how the new administration may signal policy changes in the realm of veterans affairs, and how those might trickle down to Southland communities.

We’ll hear from a variety of experts and leaders in this field:

  • Ann Brown, Medical Center Director, VA Greater Los Angeles
  • Matt Collier, Special Advisor to Dr. David Shulkin, Secretary of the VA
  • Heidi Marston, Director of Community Engagement and Reintegration Services, VA
  • Rashi Venkataraman, Director of Operations for the VA Center for Strategic Partnerships

Participants will explore some of the key questions facing veterans-serving grantmakers in our region.

With the new administration signaling major shifts in federal funding, what does the future hold for the Department of Veteran Affairs, one of the few cabinet-level agencies whose budget has not been reduced?

What does this mean for VA Secretary Dr. David Shulkin, the only cabinet member who is being held over from the Obama administration?

Is it possible that support from the White House means the VA will finally be able to fulfill its service mandate for the West Los Angeles VA campus? How can grantmakers leverage the passage of Measure H, in light of the space and resources available for homeless services at the campus?

We hope you can join us for this dynamic and timely conversation.
