To maximize the impact of their funding, grantmakers are increasingly funding grantee advocacy activities.

Southern California Grantmakers and the National Network of Consultants to Grantmakers invite you to join us for collaborative program on advocacy best practices, featuring funder and consultant perspectives.

The National Network of Consultants to Grantmakers (NNCG) co-edited the current edition of The Foundation Review, the first ever journal to focus exclusively on the role of consultants to grantmakers. For this panel, we have the authors of a compelling article, titled How to Implement a Funder-Supported Advocacy Effort and the Integral Role of Policy Consultants by consultants Deena Margolis, M.P.A., Focali Consulting, and Leah Ersoylu, Ph.D., Ersoylu Consulting.

  • Lee Draper, PhD, President, Draper Consulting Group & NNCG Vice Chair
  • Leah Ersoylu, PhD, President, Ersoylu Consulting
  • Efrain Escobedo, Vice President of Civic Engagement and Public Policy, California Community Foundation
  • Larry Kaplan, Principal, Larry Kaplan Consulting (Moderator)
  • Deena Margolis, Principal, Focali Consulting

Together we'll discuss policy advocacy and the roles philanthropy consultants play in advising a foundation on its advocacy support efforts. Join philanthropic consultants and grantmakers for an afternoon of lively dialogue on best practices in developing grantmaking for nonprofit advocacy.

This program will take place MEND, the largest multi-service agency for people living in poverty in the Valley, serving more than 60,000 people a month. An optional tour of the facility will be available after the presentation.
