SCG members are invited to attend Future of Cities: Leading in LA, taking place October 19th.

Los Angeles helped fulfill your dreams. What will you do to fulfill LA's dreams?

The Future of Cities summit will bring together recognized leaders who can play an integral role in transforming the landscape of LA for the next 20 years:

  • Just like restauranteur & health advocate Bill Chait, who is championing healthy food and a healthy workforce;
  • And media & civic leader Monica Lozano, who is working to expand Latino civic participation;
  • Just like The Advancement Project's John Kim, who won’t stop until LA is caring, inclusive, and just;
  • And KCRW's Madeleine Brand, who is moving LA’s big questions from drive time to prime time;
  • Alongside LACMA's Michael Govan, who is re-imagining the place of art in LA.

Together, Bill, Monica, John, Madeleine, Michael, and you can envision the LA we never imagined but always thought possible. Stay tuned...more civic leader participants to be revealed soon.

Future of Cities: Leading in LA imagines a future where civic engagement is foremost in the mind of our leaders; where companies and organizations are just as proud of the positive change they create in the world as they are of their quarterly earnings. This is not a far-flung fantasy, but one that business and government leaders need to embrace to stay competitive in the global marketplace. The world is shrinking and the cities who evolve to engage their citizens and leaders are the ones who will thrive.

The event at LACMA represents a first-of-its-kind convening, which challenges LA leaders to take a strong stance and renewed commitment toward civic involvement. Los Angeles is a global capital of innovation and creativity; but now is the time to call on our leaders to use their talents to enrich our city’s civic tapestry so that all our citizens may thrive. With a call to action, we can encourage greater ambition among them.

Join us early for a beverage at 5:00pm as you walk through an inspiring display highlighting the neighborhoods of LA and featuring bespoke LA maps from MIT Media Lab. We will follow with a discussion and interactive program in the Bing Theater.
