The next convening of the LA Homeless Funders Group – titled “Beyond Housing Stability to Economic Opportunity” – is scheduled for June 26, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.  During this convening we will explore the synergy between the supportive housing and the economic opportunity and development communities.

We will start the program with a panel discussion to better understand traditional workforce models, the current role of social enterprises, and new opportunities in the field.  Next we'll open the discussion and explore what could be done to encourage organizations to contract with social enterprises that employ LA’s homeless and formerly homeless communities.  Lunch will be provided.

Speakers:

  • Mike Alvidrez, Executive Director, Skid Row Housing Trust (@SkidRowOrg) - A Permanent Supportive Housing Provider and Employer Contracting with Social Enterprises
  • Mark Loranger, President and Chief Executive Officer, Chrysalis (@ChrysalisLA) -  A Social Enterprise Leading this Work
  • Robert Sainz, Assistant General Manager, Economic and Workforce Development Department – City of Los Angeles - A Local Government Partner and Leader of LA:RISE

The program will be moderated by Vivienne Lee, Regional Director of REDF (@REDF_CA).  In the room, we will also have representatives serving homeless sub-populations.
