The next SCG’s LA County Child Welfare Collaborative meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Center for Healthy Communities.

During this session, participants will hear updates from the Office and Child Protection by Michael Nash, Director for the Office of Child Protection.

We will also learn about the findings of the Resource Family Recruitment and Retention in Los Angeles County report funded by the Anthony & Jeanne Pritzker Family Foundation, followed by an update from Director, Phillip Browning about DCFS’s plan for recruitment and retention.

Additionally, Fran Jemmott and Rev. Sharalyn Hamilton of Rollins Group will provide a final report on A Landscape Analysis of Faith Based Prevention and Support for Foster Care:  A report for Southern California Grantmakers funded by the The Ralph M. Parsons Foundation.

Ms. Jemmott and Rev. Sharalyn Hamilton will be joined by the following panelists:

  • Trula Worthy-Clayton, Foster Care Project, All Saints Church, Pasadena
  • Joseph Duvall, Kinship in Action Project, Community Coalition of South Los Angeles
  • Lou Moore, ChildSHARE, Foster Parent Support and Advocacy Organization

Following the panel conversation, we will hear an update on child care for foster children, focused on two new efforts to create access to emergency assistance for child care and ways philanthropy can get involved. 

This session is open to all SCG members.

Who May Participate:
Open to all SCG members who fund in the area of child welfare initiatives and are interested in working with Los Angeles County Department of Children & Family Services to improve the foster care system.
