Join the SCG Youth Development through Sport Peer Learning Group on March 24th to hear from LA84’s new President and CEO, Renata Simril. Renata will share her aspirations, goals and visions for youth sports in Los Angeles County and provide a glimpse into some new foundation priorities, and their plans to better evaluate and measure positive youth development outcomes through sport.

The work of the LA84 Foundation started as a simple proposition: gets bats and balls in the hands of kids and the rest will follow. For over 30 years, their work has revealed that structured sport participation has the proven ability to positively impact youth development particularly as it relates to building self-confidence, improving health and eating habits, developing problem solving skills, and increasing educational outcomes. It’s not only the significant dollars they’ve invested, the sports knowledge and coaches training they have pioneered and disseminated or even the millions of youth their grantees have supported that excite them most. It’s in knowing that structured sport participation provide the skills that ready young people to take on the challenge of life, both on and off the field. With nearly 4 million youth served and millions invested, their work has really just begun.

Additionally, we'll devote significant time to discussing the role of, and best practices in, assessment and evaluation in support our work and youth development. Please come prepared to share your experience and best practices on how you’ve thought about, tracked or evaluated your organization’s work, investment and impact.
