The Asset Funders Network and Southern California Grantmakers invite you to a peer learning conversation about the asset-building field in Los Angeles. Joseph Antolin, Director of AFN, will discuss their national work and will present highlights from its recent briefing paper on how foundations can leverage the framework of asset building to help families and communities make the shift from “getting by” to “getting ahead.” As a national organization, AFN also seeks to learn about the local landscape of investments and strategies that Southern California philanthropic leaders are using to help low-income families build prosperity.

AFN’s recent briefing paper, Strategic Philanthropy: Creating Opportunity, Building Wealth and Driving Community Change, was commissioned with support from the Citi Foundation. The brief illuminates the growing field of asset building and provides guidance for foundations looking for ways to leverage the asset-building framework to advance the impact of their work. It offers compelling evidence about the increased importance and relevance of connecting asset building to existing grant making strategies and how foundations across sectors are investing in asset building for greater collective impact to help families and communities shift from getting by to getting ahead.

Please join AFN and SCG for this high-level funders-only gathering. RSVP to [email protected].
