Join us as for the next meeting of the SCG Veterans Funders Group which will include an exclusive tour of the National Soldiers’ Home, also known as the West Los Angeles Veterans Affairs campus. Donated in 1887 to forever be a home to ‘volunteer disabled soldiers’, this campus once housed and served over 4,000 disabled veterans. At 388 acres, it is the largest Veterans Affairs campus in the country and despite its original mission to serve the greater Los Angeles veteran community, much of the campus has been loaned out to non-veteran groups and has fallen into disrepair.  A master plan has been put in place to develop and revive the property to its full extent, with opportunities for private-public partnerships and programs. The tour will be led by Meghan Flanz, Executive Director of the Draft Master Plan. Following the tour, Meghan will lead a conversation to discuss the state of the master plan, how it will address the needs of the veteran community with a focus on veteran homelessness, and ways that philanthropy can become a partner.
