The Funders Alliance of San Bernardino & Riverside Counties, The James Irvine Foundation, and SCG invite you to join The Real Inland Southern California Bus Tour to learn more about the educational, health, and economic conditions within the region. Participants will also meet leading local safety net nonprofits serving families within this diverse community.

The existing safety net service providers are tirelessly working to meet the demands that exist in the region. Anticipated future growth will make those demands even more acute.

During the bus tour, you'll visit some of the Inland Empire’s most innovative collaboratives and organizations and hear from nonprofit leaders to get an inside look into their work:

  • Community Vital Signs - a public-private collaborative to improve the health of San Bernardino County residents
  • Promise Scholars - a multi-stakeholder initiative to prepare and equip students for college and careers
  • SAC Health System - an innovative healthcare provider for low-income and marginalized people
  • Operation SafeHouse - a service provider for youth at-risk of homelessness, dropping out, or sex trafficking
  • Collaborating for Community - a multi-stakeholder effort making change in the Coachella Valley

The Inland Empire is a vast area of 27,000 square miles, 4.25 million people, 52 cities, and 56 school districts educating more than 850,000 children. Already equivalent to the 25th largest state in the U.S., it's also rapidly growing, with another 1.3 million people expected by 2020. The region's nonprofits and the infrastructure that supports them are very different from those in Los Angeles or Orange County.

This tour includes lunch and is an essential learning opportunity for grantmakers who currently fund or are interested in funding in Inland Southern California!
