KEYNOTE ADDRESS BY L.A. COUNTY'S NEWEST SUPERVISOR, HOLLY MITCHELL

Holly J. Mitchell was elected in November 2020 as Supervisor of Los Angeles County's Second District which governs close to 2 million people — roughly triple the size of many Congressional districts in Southern California. Having passed nearly 70 bills in the State Legislature, many aimed at protecting those living in poverty, low-income renters, and working-class families. Supervisor Mitchell is one of California’s most influential politicians known for her legislative work criminal justice reform, foster youth, and mental healthcare. She assumes her role at a pivotal time for LA County with current priorities that include expanding access to vital resources for communities and businesses that have been hardest hit by the pandemic, as well as centering equity in public service, via an anti-racist policy agenda, alternatives to incarceration, and more.
