Foundations and philanthropists want to ensure effective use of their funds. Some believe in direct support to strong local organizations, while others see value in building on shared global frameworks like the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Are they mutually exclusive? And how can we as funders work more collaboratively to ensure that whoever our grantees are, we provide them with longer-term, more flexible support so that they can reach their potential?

Join the SCG International Funders Group for a conversation with Shaheen Kassim-Lakha from the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, Kennedy Odede of Shining Hope for Communities, Christy Chin from the Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation, moderated by Heather Grady of Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, who will share how they are working on and learning about these issues. The discussion will include comments from the winner of this year’s Hilton Humanitarian Prize, highlights from the Scaling Solutions toward Shifting Systems initiative, the hot topics at this year’s UN General Assembly meeting and aim to come up with concrete ideas about how local and global approaches may be different, but can be mutually reinforcing.
