SCG’s Public Policy Interest Group serves as a community of practice for SCG members to discuss current affairs how it relates to philanthropy, public policy issues affecting their grantmaking, and as the primary convening hub for foundations to share and develop practices at the intersection of public policy and philanthropy.

Our February convening will be the first in-person meeting of 2019 and will include an overview of the Governor’s proposed budget and updates on policies moving in the State Legislature.

The importance of public policy in our community has only continued to grow.  Members have expressed the need for ongoing connections with each other, an informal network by informing them of emerging issues, and skill building and encouraging collective action on issues of mutual concern. The learning meetings will also inform the topic specific convenings.

Known previously as the Public Policy Advisory Committee, the Committee was reconstituted as the Public Policy Interest Group in 2018 to include a broader audience of SCG members who may be interested in public policy issues. The Group includes SCG members who are deeply engaged in advocacy directly and members who are keen on remaining up to date on how current affairs may affect some of their funding areas. We welcome all interested persons.
