A small group of SCG members joined the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC) for an invitation-only working group session focused on building more livable communities in Los Angeles County. Participants' expertise and feedback will help to shape the County’s next five-year Strategic Plan for Economic Development.

In this particular session, Building More Livable Communities, participants helped develop achievable strategies and implementation actions to enhance the quality of life for LA County’s residents and communities:

Past Strategic Plan goals have been integral to the County's efforts to prepare an educated workforce, implement sustainable land use policies, create a more business-friendly environment, build 21st century infrastructure, and broadly enhance quality of life factors in our communities.

Work on this next five-year Strategic Plan (2016-2020) has already started, and 2015 will be a year of public input and collaboration, with the LAEDC facilitating the discussion in partnership with government, business, education, labor, foundation, nonprofit, and environmental partners. The LAEDC hopes once again to build consensus around a new set of economic development-related ideas.
