Trustees and senior foundation leadership are invited to join a special funder discussion on supporting military caregivers and families featuring Senator Elizabeth Dole.

This program is hosted by William Ahmanson, President of The Ahmanson Foundation and Antonia Hernández, President and CEO of the California Community Foundation.

Senator Dole has a long and distinguished career in public service, having served as US Secretary of Transportation, US Secretary of Labor, President of the Red Cross, and as a US Senator from North Carolina, among other leadership positions. Three years ago, she took on a new mission: to support the nation’s 5.5 million spouses, mothers, fathers, and other loved ones tending to wounded warriors on the home front.

Caring for Military Families: The Elizabeth Dole Foundation raises awareness and addresses the gaps in service and support for America’s military caregivers. Armed with the nation's first comprehensive, evidence-based research—commissioned by her Foundation and conducted by the RAND Corporation—Senator Dole has launched a new national coalition spanning the public, private, labor, nonprofit, and faith communities.

A major finding of the RAND study revealed that the most effective way to improve the health of a veteran is a strong, well supported caregiver. First Lady Michelle Obama, Dr. Jill Biden, and former First Lady Rosalynn Carter have also joined the Senator's efforts to amplify a national call to action in support of caregivers, America’s hidden heroes.

At this luncheon conversation in downtown Los Angeles, Senator Dole will share her commitment to supporting veterans and their caregivers and how Southern California philanthropy can play a critical role in this effort.

Space is limited.  We encourage participation of trustees and senior foundation leadership at this program. Please contact Program Manager Annabelle Rosborough at [email protected] or (213) 680-8866 ext. 222 if you are interested in attending.
