Low-income community members face difficult odds in finding well-paying jobs to support their families.

Join us to explore two models that will challenge us as funders to think about our own efforts at poverty elimination and how we can provide opportunities for low-income community members to build income.

Our first featured nonprofit, CIELO, is an entrepreneurship center born out of the immigrant experience in a very low-income Latino community in Orange County. The organization is now located at Golden West College.

Next we’ll learn about Opportunity Fund, California’s leading microenterprise program, which addresses the need for new and emerging leaders to gain access to “micro” capital to make permanent and lasting change in their lives.

Moderated by Maya Dunne (@MayaLately), Principal of Maya Dunne and Associates, our panelists will share their insights into this increasingly critical issue:

Together we’ll examine the challenges of our current economic environment and how emerging nonprofit models can support prosperity for families and economic development for communities.
