Confronting Commercial Sexual Exploitation and Sex Trafficking of Minors in the United States

Every day in the United States, children and adolescents are victims of commercial sexual exploitation and sex trafficking. The IOM and National Research Council studied these crimes as they affect U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents of the United States under age 18. The IOM/NRC report offers recommendations concerning strategies for responding to commercial sexual exploitation and sex trafficking of minors in the United States, new legislative approaches, and a research agenda.

The State of Human Trafficking in California 2012

In January 2012, Attorney General Kamala D. Harris created a Human Trafficking Work Group to examine the nature and scope of human trafficking in California in 2012. The Work Group was comprised of representatives of educational institutions, private entities, and a broad spectrum of law enforcement agencies. This report reflects the discussions held during three day-long meetings in Sacramento, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, as well as supplemental research and investigation by the California Department of Justice.
