Position Purpose: As part of the Community Investment Team, the Community Grants Administrator is responsible for the administration of Health Net’s grant making operations and process. This position will work with Health Net business leaders, applicants, grantees and the Community Investments and Strategic Giving & Community Engagement teams to design and oversee grant making applications, procedures, and reporting requirements. The Community Grants Administrator will contribute to the planning, organizing and coordinating of the grant program in close partnership with the Community Grants Managers, Strategic Giving team and Advisory Committees.


Database Administration


  • Manage the database process, from organization registration to grant closure
  • Provide ongoing database training and technical assistance for all staff
  • Maintain grant records, documents, and coding
  • Update the database and grant applications on an ongoing basis
  • Provide database reports as requested
  • Audit the database to assure quality, compliance, and consistency



Grant Processing


  • Perform required due diligence of grant applications and grantee requirements
  • Document and revise grant processes as needed
  • Document all grant modifications (for example: no-cost extensions and budget revisions)




  • Provide updates and reports to key business leaders and team members on grant programs.
  • Collaborate with staff and legal advisors to edit grant agreements when necessary
  • Maintain subject matter expertise on the following:SmartSimple database, grants management best practices, relevant state and federal regulations



Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public policy, healthcare administration or related field required


  • Five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in managed care or health related field, nonprofit or philanthropy, and/or public policy arena 
  • Experience working with managed care organizations, community-based organizations, or foundations/philanthropic organizations preferred
  • Experience working with the uninsured, under-insured and diverse populations preferred
  • Experience working with grants management software and information technology skills
  • Experience with designing and implementing effective workflow processes and procedures

Preferred Experience:

  • Superb written and oral communications skills 
  • Strong familiarity of SmartSimple 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, strong Excel skills
