Job Description: 

Responsible for supporting plans to achieve special event fundraising goals as set forth by the Foundation leadership.


Principal Duties and Accountabilities:

  • Manages the special events office and oversees volunteers on day-to-day procedures. Oversees maintaining mailing lists for solicitations, invitations and all mailings.
  • Manages the details of working with outside vendors toward the completion of all publications for event execution (brochures, invitations, signage). Coordinates with Foundation leadership re. on-site logistics, seating, and execution of event goals.
  • Manages and coordinates staff and volunteers throughout the event in areas of registration, invoicing, and all computer operations.
  • Responsible for final accounting and financial reporting of event income, updating data base with all event and attendee activity.


Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or a combination of education and/or additional job-related experience may be substituted in lieu of the degree.
  • Minimum (3) years working in a fundraising environment with extensive computer knowledge, experience in donor records, Blackbaud experience.


Special Skills:

  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, and the ability to develop and grow positive interpersonal relationships with donors, potential donors, hospital leaders, managers and staff, business leaders and community representatives to meet fundraising goals.
  • Proactive and energetic self-starter who demonstrates initiative and creativity, and the ability to inspire and motivate volunteers, donors, and colleagues.
  • Strong knowledge of fund development strategies and principles, particularly in the area of direct and third-party events.
  • Track record of success in implementing and managing all aspects of both small and large-scale special event production, from creative vision, budgeting, and planning to secure individual and corporate sponsorships, as well as day-of execution and post-event donor stewardship.
  • Fluent in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as online platforms (website, social media). Familiarity with Blackbaud CRM helpful. Knowledge of downtown Los Angeles community is a plus.
