Staff Accountant

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Assistant Controller & the CFO, this key position will perform various reoccurring accounting functions, reporting and statistical detailing of financial and operational results. The incumbent will apply accounting principles to the financial operation of the Foundation to ensure accurate and timely information necessary for business operations.

This individual will support and promote the company’s purpose, vision, and mission; always acting in the best interest of the Foundation. Must uphold and embody the corporate values of integrity, teamwork, respect, professionalism, and stability. This is an office based position that requires the employee generally be present in the office during the regular business hours.

Job Duties

· Support the Assistant Controller & the CFO in all areas of accounting and finance.

· Process accounts payable and grant payments.

· Prepare general ledger entries; maintain records and files; reconcile accounts.

· Prepare monthly bank account reconciliations.

· Manage cash balances to company policies.

· Assist in preparation of consolidated internal financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger and other modules of the enterprise software.

· Ad Hoc analysis and special projects as needed.

· Assist with the preparation of annual audit and tax return package.

· Provide backup for processing of semi-monthly payroll and 403(b) deposits.

· Provide accounting and finance support for organization by researching and interpreting financial information; converting data to/from enterprise system; obtaining supplementary information.

· Protect the organization's value by keeping information confidential.

Minimum Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or comparable) with five or more years of related experience is required. Two years of General Ledger experience is also required.

· Nonprofit or fund accounting a strong plus!

· Proficient in the use of personal computers, ability to quickly learn various software programs. Extensive Excel experience is required.

· Ability to demonstrate advanced analytic skills, including excellent mathematical skills.

· Excellent oral and written English communication.

· Strong organizational skills as demonstrated by the ability to work on several tasks at once with frequent interruptions while meeting sensitive timeframes.

· Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with multiple levels and multiple departments within an organization.

· Must be highly discrete with the ability to view confidential information.
