2014 Halo Award Applications Now Available

Thursday, June 5, 2014

The Carl & Roberta Deutsch Foundation is pleased to announce the release of its 2014 application for the Halo Award, aimed at celebrating and strengthening volunteer efforts throughout Greater Los Angeles. The Foundation strongly encourages smaller organizations and past applicants to apply.

What is the Halo Award? This $25,000 award brings together two distinct pieces in its design:

1. $20,000 grant for a nonprofit to strengthen and sustain its volunteer efforts, and
2. $5,000 award to a nominated volunteer who has gone “above and beyond” in volunteerism.

Additionally, the Foundation will provide technical assistance to support Halo Awardees with development and implementation of volunteer management plans that will strengthen and sustain volunteer efforts within their organizations.

Who is eligible to apply for the Halo Award? Applications will be accepted from nonprofits in and serving the Greater Los Angeles area and its surrounding counties, whose missions align with at least one of the following program areas:

  • Arts Education
  • Homelessness Prevention
  • Career and College Access & Retention
  • Mental Health
  • Early Childhood Education
  • Veterans
  • Foster Youth
  • Workforce Development

The nonprofit nominates one unpaid volunteer who has provided exemplary service to the organization.
