2018 HALO Award Application is Now Available

The Carl & Roberta Deutsch Foundation is pleased to announce the release of the 2018 HALO Award Application!

What is the HALO Award?


The HALO Award is a capacity building effort to strengthen and sustain nonprofit organizations by supporting volunteer programs and to recognize and reward volunteers doing exemplary work in their communities. Selected nonprofit organizations and individual volunteers will each receive:

  • Capacity building support with peer learning sessions & one-on-one coaching to help shape key program strategies & develop a volunteer management plan;
  • $20,000 grant for a nonprofit to strengthen, implement, and sustain its volunteer efforts; and
  • $5,000 award to a nominated volunteer who has gone “above and beyond” in volunteerism.

How does a nonprofit and volunteer qualify for the HALO Award?
Applications will only be accepted from nonprofits in and serving Los Angeles County. For more detailed information about eligibility, please visit our website at

Applications demonstrating a strategic vision to build organizational capacity by strengthening and sustaining volunteer programs will be highly regarded. We encourage past applicants based in Los Angeles County to apply again.
