AEG Worldwide Launches the AEG Community Foundation

Tuesday, August 21, 2018

The AEG Community Foundation was established to build on AEG’s strong philanthropic commitment to local communities. Starting with the L.A. Kings’ Foundation (Kings Care) and continuing with AEG’s first multi-year grant ($1M) made to Inner City Arts during the construction of STAPLES Center by the STAPLES Center Foundation we have always prioritized investing in communities where we have a business presence.

The new Foundation, which will replace the STAPLES Center Foundation, will strengthen AEG’s nationwide philanthropic platform and enhance our charitable giving across the country. Our new online grant making process will allow us to more efficiently connect with non-profit partners interested in receiving support from AEG. As AEG has grown into a multi-faceted international company, we felt that the Foundation needed to evolve to reflect our growth in other geographic areas. This new entity will function as the official charitable foundation for AEG.

The mission of the Foundation is to support children and families in need through grant making in the areas of K-12 education, the arts, and health and wellness. In supporting K-12 education, our emphasis will be on granting to organizations that provide educational and learning access, opportunities and innovation activities for youth, primarily in the areas of literacy, after-school academic support and college readiness. With the arts, the emphasis is to support organizations that provide youth opportunities to engage in the arts and music, especially youth who otherwise would not be exposed to the arts or able to develop their artistic talent. Through the support of health and wellness initiatives, we will focus on supporting organizations that address health and wellness challenges facing under-served communities. Support in this area may go toward after school youth sports programs and youth development centers

We want the AEG Community Foundation to be a visible extension of our company’s core values. We also see this as an opportunity to increase our support of community based non-profit organizations in our areas of focus through grantmaking and volunteer engagement. We believe that corporate philanthropy and volunteer engagement play a critical role in helping communities thrive, and we pride ourselves in being civic leaders and working to improve the economic and social well-being of local communities where we operate.

This transition represents the start of a new era for our philanthropy which widens the scope of our community engagement and impact. It is exciting that we will be able to broaden our support to deserving community-based non-profit organizations in cities across the United States where we do business, as well as share with them the spirit of AEG.
