Recommended Homeless Initiative Strategies: February 9th Board of Supervisors Meeting

Thursday, February 4, 2016

On Tuesday, February 9th, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors will consider the coordinated set of recommended strategies that emerged from the Homeless Initiative Planning Process, which involved 25 County departments,  30 cities, more than 100 community organizations and many community members at large. The recommended strategies could not have been developed without the passion, expertise, and commitment of everyone involved in this process.

There are  47 recommended strategies to help the thousands of families and individuals who are currently homeless and prevent countless others from becoming homeless. Underlying these strategies is the reality that homelessness is a regional problem that can only be addressed with a commitment to action by cities and other organizations across the county. The recommended strategies and supporting documents (including public comments on the January 7 draft of the strategies and the response from the Homeless Initiative) are posted at http://priorities.lacounty.gov/homeless/.

The Board meeting, which begins at 9:30 a.m. on February 9, will take place in Room 381B of the Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration at 500 W. Temple Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012. The Homeless Initiative’s recommended strategies are scheduled to be heard by the Board at 10:30 a.m. If you like, you can view the Board Meeting live at http://bos.lacounty.gov/Board-Meeting/Live-Broadcast.

The Homeless Initiative Team of LA County looks forward to continuing to work together toward implementation of the strategies approved by the Board of Supervisors.
