Significant Gains Made Across Policy Issues Affecting Children and Families

Wednesday, July 15, 2015

More than 1,150 organizations and thousands of individuals are now members of The Children’s Movement of California, and together they have achieved several recent victories for California kids. Over the last quarter, members participated in education and action campaigns that resulted in:

  • Increased investments to expand quality preschool and childcare for low-income families, so more parents can work and kids can be ready for school.
  • Expanded health coverage to more than 170,000 undocumented children. Read more.
  • A powerful statement of diverse, public support for the Common Core standards that will help better prepare students for the future.
  • Sustained funding for the Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting Program, preserving family-centered coaching, education and support for thousands of California families striving to give their babies a strong start. Read more.

About Children Now:
Children Now is a leading non-partisan national, state and local research, policy development, and advocacy organization dedicated to improving children's overall well-being. For the first time, the organization is providing children with the same power as interest groups like the AARP and the Chamber of Commerce by providing umbrella representation covering the many individual policy issues impacting kids, and combining its policymaking know-how and subject matter expertise with a powerful organized membership. Children Now's simplified messaging — "Pro-Kid" — reflects our umbrella, whole-child approach.
