Resources from Fires: Join Local Foundation Leaders and Experts for A First Hand Report

On October 17th, over 150 participants took part of Northern California Grantmakers' funder call with leaders of local community foundations and disaster experts located in the areas most affected by recent Northern California wildfires. They heard a firsthand report of the situation, and learned what funders, nonprofits, and government are doing to assist at this stage of the emergency.

Achieving Equity Convening

The Weingart Foundation’s full commitment to equity contains a pledge to use their voice to call attention to the importance of advancing fairness and inclusion and urge others to join in this work. Many in philanthropy have taken up the call for equity but much more needs to be done. This is why on March 2, 2017 the Foundation brought together key leaders from philanthropy, as well as from the nonprofit sector, government, business, and labor for the Achieving Equity convening in Los Angeles.

Why Raising Money To Fight Ebola Is Hard - NPR

From the point of view of philanthropy, the Ebola outbreak is the opposite of the Haiti earthquake. It's far from the U.S. It's hard to understand. The outbreak emerged over a period of months — not in one dramatic moment — and it wasn't initially clear how bad it was. Donors like being part of a recovery story. In Haiti, buildings and lives were destroyed.
