Southern California Grantmakers expressed excitement to partner with the City of West Hollywood on the Los Angeles County’s LGBTQ Scan of Youth Services. SCG, which serves as the fiscal sponsor for the project, would receive $5,000 for the project by the City of West Hollywood. The study establishes an inventory of LGBTQ-specific programs; identifies gaps in knowledge, policy, data collection and training in relation to LGBTQ youth; and develops recommendations to address gaps and strategically allocate resources.
The California State Assembly Appropriations committee is currently considering Assembly Bill 2083 (Cooley). The proposed legislation seeks to create greater coordination between county-level and state-level agencies who serve children and youth in foster care who have experienced trauma. Some of the actions under AB 2083 are:
